Zadar, Croatia - Jason and Sam are now at sailing club Uskok. That’s where the European championship 49er will be held on 1 till 6 sep. The upcoming forecast predictions are medium winds for the first two day’s, followed by light winds after the first two days. The North Adriatic greenhouse effect is on full power. With over 35 degrees in the shade most sailors are preparing the boats for measurement. After the procedures everybody is keeping the masts down because thunderstorms and 40 kts are expected. Tie 'em down!
The Dutch squad is on at 16:15 for measurement. So we still have to wait to see if the TeamPandion.com and Cats and Dinghies.nl Team Riders will get some unexpected surprises. The past few weeks we've spent a lot of time working on innovating the trimsystems. These alterations will do us much prfit in the expected lighter winds.
Before the Europeans we sailed two weeks in La Rochelle working on boat handling. Together with Pim Nieuwenhuis and Ferdinand van West and coach Daan Schutte we've experienced light conditions.
The EC will be sailed in six days, the official races will be held from the 31st of august till the 5th of september. For all six days epople are expecting light winds in Croatia. That fits perfectly with our training programme.. What a coincidence;)
Our main goal for this event is to learn as much as possible from the best sailors of the world. Our progression is very good and by getting along with other countries we gain a lot of information. Turned out to be good tactics as we are invited by the German and Greek teams to come and train with them.
